Set a Pattern's Length
Patterns can have any length from 1 to 64 steps (or 1 to 48 steps for
triplet time scales). To set a pattern's length, press
[FUNC]
+
[LENGTH]
.
Buttons corresponding to all the existing steps in the pattern will be lit.
Select the desired page using

if necessary, then press the
[#]
button corresponding to the new last step in the pattern.
The following example demonstrates how to change a 16-step pattern
into a 32-step pattern.

[FUNC]
+
[LENGTH]
.
Buttons
[1]
through
[16]
will be lit in blue.
2. Press
[PAGE]
once to advance to page 2 (yellow) of the pattern.
Page 2 of this pattern will be empty.
3. Page 2 shows steps 17-32 of the pattern, so press
[16]
to set the
new length to 32 steps.
4. Press
[FUNC]
to exit the menu.
Pattern Unroll
This function lengthens a pattern and clones its existing content into the
newly added steps. For example, you can use this function to extend a
16-step pattern into a 32-step pattern without manually copying all of the
new steps. This is done by performing a long press of the new length's
[#]
button when changing a pattern's length.
To try this, perform the same steps as in the "Set a Pattern's Length"
example above (using a different 16-step pattern), except at step #3
press and hold
[16]
for two seconds. The content of the original 16 step
pattern will then be copied into the newly added steps 17-32.
Instrument Mutate
The Mutate function automatically alters your pattern in a subtle way. It
can be used to help you experiment with different rhythms.
While in Pattern Write mode, select an instrument using the
Track/Instrument
switch. Start the sequencer and be sure to activate
several steps for the selected instrument. Mutate the current instrument
by pressing
[FUNC]
+
[MUTATE]
.
