Lesson 10
Live Performance Features
Once you've created some patterns or tracks, the Drum Drone and Beat
Bot can be controlled in several interesting ways during a performance.
You can adjust which instruments appear in the mix (similar to
instrument muting), add or remove the Accent/Flam/Roll modifiers, or
trigger additional instrument sounds.
The techniques in this lesson can be applied in Pattern Play or Track
Play modes and they do not affect your stored patterns (i.e., they are
non-destructive).
Also refer to the next lesson (Lesson 11) which covers the Mix Control
function.
Accent/Flam/Roll Effects
Add a modifier effect to an instrument within a pattern or to all
instruments.
Press or hold
[ACCENT]
,
[FLAM]
, and/or
[ROLL]
to add these effects to the
currently selected instrument whenever that instrument is triggered by
the sequencer.
Add or Subtract Drum Sounds
Add instrument strikes to a pattern while it's playing.
Press
[TAP]
to play the currently selected instrument. Hold
[TAP]
to
continue to play that instrument for every step while
[TAP]
is pressed.
Modifiers may also be applied by also holding
[ACCENT]
,
[FLAM]
, and/or
[ROLL]
when
[TAP]
is pressed. While holding
[TAP]
, you can adjust the
repeat rate using the
Tone
knob (1/4, 1/8, 1/16, 1/32, or 1/64 note).
Press
[CLEAR]
to momentarily prevent the sequencer from playing the
current instrument (i.e., momentarily mutes the instrument). While
holding
[CLEAR]
you can press
[TAP]
to override the pattern's steps and
instead insert different drum strikes.
