Lesson 14
Advanced Pattern Editing
Lesson 4 showed you how to program basic patterns. This lesson
introduces a number of other techniques for building and editing
patterns.
The techniques in this lesson can be performed when in Pattern Write
mode.
Instrument Copy/Paste
You can copy an instrument's rhythm within a pattern and paste it to a
different instrument, to an instrument in another pattern, or to another
page within the same pattern.
With the desired source pattern playing and the source instrument
selected on the
Track/Instrument
switch, press
[FUNC]
+
[COPY]
. Then
select the target pattern, instrument, and/or page and press
[FUNC]
+
[PASTE]
to paste it.
The source instrument's step settings and Accent/Flam/Roll modifiers
will be applied to the destination.
Global Accents
The Drum Drone supports individually accented notes for each
instrument (see Lesson 5), but some earlier drum machines used a
dedicated Accent track which was used to program accents that applied
to every instrument.
There is a dedicated Global Accent track in each pattern that is
accessed while the sequencer is running in Pattern Write mode by
pressing
[FUNC]
+
[ACCENT]
. When in the Global Accent view, you will see
the
[ACCENT]
LED flashing.
After programming Global Accent steps in this view, any instruments
that have triggers on those steps will play with accent applied.
You can exit the Global Accent view by pressing either
[FUNC]
or
[ACCENT].
