Managing the PR2000

PR2000 Installation Guide
To set/reset events, go to Admin->Event Program. Use the “List” (L) function
to list the current events.
An event is defined by:
•
Number of event to be programmed. The PR2000 allows up to 16
events, numbered from 1 to 16.
•
Event first Date and Event first Time. It defines the date and time
when the event will be executed for the first time.
•
Repetition Period in minutes. If set to zero, the event will be executed
only once (one shot). If different from zero, the event will be executed
repeatedly with a repetition period (expressed in minutes) defined by
this parameter.
•
Shortcut String. When an event is executed, the PR2000 opens a
virtual super user session at the console and processes this string as if
someone was typing at the console. Use “\e” for <Esc>, “\r” for <Enter>
and “\\” for <\>. You can also use the “menu shortcut” notation
described in the chapter Turning the PR2000 on.
Important notes:
•
When a programmed event is executed, a console super-user session
is open. That means that, if there is a super-user session in progress, it
will be automatically and unconditionally closed when a programmed
event is triggered for execution.
•
The console session is a full super-user session. If the programmed
event doesn’t include the sequence for logout after the command is
executed, the session will remain open until an idle timeout (10
minutes) closes it.
•
If the programmed time for the execution of the event is within one
minute of the programming time, the PR2000 will automatically delay
the execution time for one minute to avoid the event time to be reached
while the event is being saved to flash.
•
Because the menu interface can change slightly between different
firmware versions, it is important to review the programmed events
every time the CyROS version is updated.
•
Because programmed events can do anything the super-user could do
at the console, wrong event programming might have potentially serious
security and functionality implications.
Here are a few possible applications of Event Programming:
•
Establish specific access and filtering policies depending on the time of
the day.
