PR2000 Installation Guide
In the absence of a Domain Name Server (DNS) in the network, there is a local
host table for up to 32 entries. Up to 32 different names and corresponding IP
addresses can be defined. Once this is done, any pre-configured system can be
referenced by name and the PR2000 will automatically know its IP address. The
local host table is configured at Config->System->Hosts.
Thirty-two entries might not be enough to cover all names and IP addresses in a
larger network. The PR2000 also has a DNS client. That means that it can
request names or address translations from an assigned Domain Name Server
in the network. Providing the PR2000 with the IP address of up to two DNS
servers is all that is needed. The DNS client configuration is done at Config-
>IP->DNS Client and allows you to enter the IP addresses of the DNS servers,
define the PR2000 symbolic name and enable/disable the DNS client.
5.5 Finishing IP configuration
Additional configuration that is specific to IP is found under Config->IP.
The parameters needed for basic IP functionality were described in the previous
chapters. The remaining chapters of this Installation Guide cover additional
features of the product as an IP router and terminal server.
If you need more information or a specific parameter reference, please see the
CyROS Reference Guide. This manual is available on our FTP site:
ftp://ftp.cyclades.com/pub/cyclades/PR2000/doc/CyROS_xx.pdf, where xx is the
manual version.
5.6 Finishing IPX configuration
Additional configuration that is specific to IPX is found under Config->IPX.
The parameters needed for IPX operation are mostly in the interface
configuration described in the previous chapters. To complete the IPX
configuration, select Config->IPX to manually add entries to the SAP table (if
necessary) and configure Internal Network Number (a unique network number
assigned to the router) and MaxNumber of Hops (maximum number of hops to
reach an IPX destination).
