4 Getting the WAN interfaces to work

In this Chapter

This chapter explains how to configure the WAN interfaces. At this point, the
Ethernet LAN interface should be working. After finishing this chapter, you
should go to the next chapter, which explains how to finish the router
configuration.

4.1 Required Information

This chapter covers the configuration of WAN interfaces (WAN 1, WAN 2 and
ASYNC). Before starting the WAN configuration, you should also know the
parameters for the network protocols you are using (IP and/or IPX) and the data
link protocol (PPP, Frame Relay, X.25 or HDLC).

4.2 Configuring the WAN Interfaces

From the main menu, select Config->Interface. For each WAN interface, select
the appropriated option. You will see a menu that looks like this (or slightly
different, depending on the interface):

4.3 Configuring interface-specific parameters for WAN

The interface-specific parameters are configured at:

•

 Config->Interface->Physical for the SWAN.

First, go to the menu item specific to the physical interface being configured. In
this menu, you will be able to configure parameters related to the interface.
