4.8 Managing and listing the WAN interface configuration
At any time, the WAN interface configuration can be listed at Info->Show
Configuration->Interface-><Slot/Interface>.
A WAN interface can be shutdown by the administrator (for example, during a
re-configuration) without putting the router out of operation. The activation/de-
activation of a WAN interface is done at Admin->Start/Stop Interface.
4.9 Troubleshooting the WAN Interfaces
Obviously, the easiest way to verify that the WAN interfaces were correctly
configured is to get the router working. If you have followed all the steps in this
manual carefully until now, chances are this will be the case.
Remember that a WAN connection depends not only on the configuration of the
equipment on your side, but also on:
•
Physical connections. Make sure all the cables are correctly and
firmly connected.
•
The interface equipment (if any). Make sure your external modem,
DSU/CSU, Terminal Adapter or other interface equipment are
compatible with your application and is correctly configured.
•
The communication line. Make sure the line is active. Usually the
WAN service provider (ISP or carrier) can help testing the line and
verify the existence of problems at the physical level.
•
The remote communication equipment. Make sure that the
equipment on the other side of the WAN connection is operational
and is configured properly.
Here are some other basic things to check before calling Cyclades technical
support if things are not working.
•
Double-check the router configuration as detailed in the previous
chapters.
