Restoring the Software Settings
Using this function has the following benefits:
- If you have more than one AP and all APs have the same settings,
you just need to setup one AP then use the resulting settings file
for the other APs. (However, as this sets the same IP address for
all APs, you need to change the IP address separately.)
- The old settings can be restored easily if a fault causes the
settings file to be erased.
Using SmartMedia to Restore the Settings
(1) Prepare the SmartMedia containing the software settings file.
(2) Place a write-protect seal on the SmartMedia.
(3) Gently insert the SmartMedia into the SmartMedia slot on the
AP.
(4) The AP reads the settings file from the SmartMedia and
updates its settings.
(5) After the “BUSY” LED goes out, remove the SmartMedia.
This causes the AP to reboot automatically.
Note!
The AP uses the same file name as when the settings are saved.
Using TFTP to Restore the Settings
(1) Start the TFTP file transfer utility.
(2) Select “Send File to AP (AP
←
PC)”, then click the “OK”
button.
(3) Select “Settings File” from the “File to Transfer” box.
(4) Enter the IP address of the AP in the “AP IP Address” field.
(5) Enter the location of the settings file in the “Path Name of File
to Transfer” field.
(6) Click the OK button.
(7) When file transfer completes, click the “Exit” button.
(8) To apply the new settings on the AP, you need to reboot the AP.
See Chapter 7 “Using TFTP to Reboot the AP”.
