About FLEXLAN-DS110 Series

FX-DS110-APE

Applicable scope

As roaming is not available in simple mode (ADHOC connection),
the devices that are to communicate via wireless must be located
within radio range. This restricts the applicable scope of this
mode. Standard mode is typically used for medium to large sized
wireless LANs.

A “-“ mark is specified for inter-segment brouter mode as this
configuration consists of APs linking between segments and does
not include any user units.

Roaming

The roaming function which allows mobile user units to switch log-
in between multiple APs can only be used in interconnection mode
and standard mode. Roaming can be used to construct large scale
wireless LANs.

IP tunneling

This function modifies the IP address so that units can connect to
the desired network group even via APs belonging to different
network groups. This function can only be used in standard mode.

IP routing

This function performs routing of IP frames. The AP operates as a
bridge for non-IP frames.

Bridge OFF

If the bridge function is set OFF when using the IP routing function,
the AP does not operate as a bridge for non-IP frame packets.

Spanning tree

A function for avoiding network loops. A spanning tree can be
used to provide duplicate circuits over the wireless network where
one of the circuits is used as a backup. Details are explained in
Chapter 8.

DHCP

This function automatically allocates an IP address to wireless
devices that log in the AP.
