10. Initial operation and programming
No matter whether you bought the set (alarm base station with door/window detector, PIR motion
detector and remote control) or a single alarm base station with other accessories, the separate
parts should already be installed.
Now switch on the ‘FAZ 3000’ wireless alarm system and set it to suit your own expectations
and requirements.
Before you start to program the device, please familiarise yourself with the ‘FAZ 3000-Z’ alarm
base station’s controls and displays as well as the operating structure basics
by reading the
complete user manual.
a) Displays & controls of the ‘FAZ 3000-Z’ alarm base station
You will find the following displays and controls on the front of the alarm base station’s casing:

Control panel with 6 status LEDs
‘Netz’ (power)
Displays the availability of the supply voltage
‘Störung’ (trouble)
Lights up when there are any troubles such as
‘sabotage contact open’
‘Batterie’ (battery)
Lights up when the alarm base station’s reserve
batteries are running low
‘unscharf’ (disarmed)
The alarm system is switched to ‘disarmed’
‘intern scharf’ (internally armed)
The alarm system is switched to ‘internally armed’
‘extern scharf’ (externally armed)
The alarm system is switched to ‘externally armed’

LCD
The LCD has a backlight and two lines, each with 11 positions. It is used for displaying status
signals as well as for simple programming.
•
Keypad with number buttons and control buttons for programming
The 16 buttons (ordered 4x4) are for programming the base station and for querying data.
The number buttons ‘2’ to ‘9’ are labelled with the letters of the alphabet, just like a telephone.
This is used in each menu for programming sensor names etc., for example.
The ‘0’ button is also a space character.

Keypad for arming
The 3 round buttons are for arming (‘intern scharf’ = internally armed) and (‘extern scharf’
= externally armed) or for disarming (‘unscharf’ = disarmed) the alarm base station.
