Accelerator Cable Installation – From Early-2012 Model
Year ACCELERATOR AND BRAKE PEDAL GROUP
ACCELERATOR CABLE INSTALLATION – FROM EARLY-2012 MODEL YEAR
1. Install cable through chassis along original route.
2. Connect the Z-shaped end (1) of the accelerator cable to the pedal (2) (Figure 5-25, Page 5-11) .
3. Secure cable anchor (4) in bracket (5).
4. Secure the spring end of the accelerator cable to the throttle bellcrank (Figure 5-24, Page 5-11) .
5. Place cable into engine mounting bracket and secure with jam nuts only finger-tight to allow for cable adjustment
(Figure 5-24, Page 5-11) .
6. Adjust accelerator cable. See Accelerator Cable Adjustment – From Early-2012 Model Year on page 5-12.
ACCELERATOR CABLE ADJUSTMENT – FROM EARLY-2012 MODEL YEAR
1. Disconnect battery and spark plug wire(s). See Disconnecting the Battery – Gasoline Vehicles on page 1-4.
2. Raise the cargo bed and secure with the bed locking pin. See Cargo Bed, Section 4, Page 4-20.
3. Remove the seat bottom.
4. Remove the exhaust pipe heat shield.
5. Place a 3/4 inch (19 mm) thick spacer between the accelerator pedal and the floorboard.
6. Push accelerator pedal down against the spacer and hold.
7. Fully open the engine throttle (wide open throttle (WOT) and hold.
8. With cable attached to engine throttle bellcrank, pull cable sheath to remove any slack.
9. Adjust the two jam nuts at the cable mount so that the throttle bellcrank hits the throttle stop tab and the spring
end stretches 5/16 in +/- 1/32 in (8 mm +/- 1 mm)

10. Connect battery and spark plug wire(s). See Connecting the Battery – Gasoline Vehicles on page 1-4.
11. Remove the 3/4 inch (19 mm) spacer.
12. Adjust the engine idle and high-speed RPM to specification. See Engine RPM Adjustment – From Early-2012
Model Year on page 13-11.
13. Tighten the two jam nuts on the accelerator cable sheath to the cable mount bracket (13) to 36 in-lb (4.1 N·m).
See following CAUTION.
CAUTION
• When tightening the jam nuts on the cable, make sure the cable sheath stays seated at the bottom of
the bracket.
• Cycle the pedal one time and verify the throttle bellcrank still hits the throttle stop tab (Figure 5-26,
Page 5-13).
