18. Detach spring(s) and unbolt or detach accelerator cable from throttle bellcrank.

See following NOTE.

NOTE:

Later models have a second spring attached to a unique bolt that is taller and grooved.

19. Loosen the clamp or jam nuts that secure accelerator cable sheath to engine

(Figure 5-24, Page 5-11)

.

20. Disconnect the choke cable from the carburetor

(Figure 13-9, Page 13-3) and (Figure 13-10, Page 13-3)

21. Disconnect fuel hose from fuel pump, plug the end of hose to prevent fuel spillage, and secure hose out of the way.

22. Disconnect the wire harness lead from the oil pressure switch.

23. Remove the hardware securing the engine to the subframe

(Figure 13-11, Page 13-4)

.

24. With a hoist or assistant, lift the engine up and out of the vehicle.

See following WARNING.

WARNING

• To prevent injury, consider the weight of the engine prior to lifting it out of the vehicle. The engine

weighs approximately 75 lbs. (34 kg). Either have someone assist or use a lifting device.
