3. Visually inspect the linkage (1) for movement and proper throttle position (Figure 13-24, Page 13-12) . It should
rotate and return when the accelerator pedal is pressed and released.

4. Visually confirm the current idle adjustment.
4.1. At the carburetor, inspect the gap (1) between the idle arm and the idle stop screw (Figure 13-25, Page
13-12) . This gap allows the governor to modulate engine speed at idle and prevent stalling. See following
NOTE.
NOTE: The idle stop screw is not an idle adjustment screw. It only works in conjunction with the idle spring and the
tang it is anchored to.
4.2. At the governor, make sure there is no tension on the main governor spring (2) (Figure 13-24, Page 13-12) .
If spring is under tension, the accelerator cable may not be adjusted properly. See Accelerator Cable
Adjustment – From Early-2012 Model Year on page 5-12.
5. If the idle stop screw gap is correct (as shown) (Figure 13-25, Page 13-12) , proceed to step 6. If the idle stop
screw gap is not correct (as shown), use the following steps.
5.1. Remove the two screws (1) and carburetor cover plate located above the fan housing (Figure 13-26,
Page 13-13) . See following NOTE.
