CL-E700 series
Forcible stop of the “SA PF Motor” at an abnormally high temperature:
If the temperature of the “SA PF Motor” reaches 105°C (221°F), the “SA PF Motor” stops.
In addition, an abnormally high temperature is monitored by the abnormally high temperature
detection circuit. (Refer to “
2-2-4(4) PF motor temperature sensor
”.) If an abnormally high
temperature is detected with this circuit, the FPGA changes the level at pin N3 from “High” to
“Low” so that +24V DC (VMT) to the motor driver (U13) stops.

Ribbon motor driver
This is a driving circuit to drive the “SA Ribbon Motor F” (stepping motor). The “SA Ribbon
Motor F” is used to take up the ribbon.
In the same way as mentioned in “
”, the power supply to the “SA
Ribbon Motor F” is controlled by the VMTON signal at pin N3 of FPGA (U5). When the VMTON
signal is “High”, Q20 turns ON, FET Q18 turns ON, and +24V DC (VMT) is supplied to the “SA
Ribbon Motor F”.
The rotational direction is determined by the RIBDIR_R signal at pin B11 of FPGA and the
motor drive pulse is fed from pin A7 (RIBSTEP_R). The motor driver (U601) drives the “SA
Ribbon Motor F” using these signals.
The digital-to-analog converter (U16) controls the drive current to the “SA Ribbon Motor F”.
The output from pin 6 (DARBMT_R) of U16 is fed to pin 15 (REF) of the motor driver (U601) to
determine the amount of drive current to the “SA Ribbon Motor F”.
