Chapter 7 Powering Off the Router
Disable the BBU by Disconnecting the BBU Harness Cable
Step 1
Disable power at the circuit or power supply to which the router AC power cable is connected.
Step 2
Disconnect the router AC power cable from the AC power connector on base of the router enclosure.
Step 3
Take one of the following steps:
a.
If the router has one or more BBUs installed, immediately disable the BBU as described in the
“Disable the Router BBU at the CLI” section on page 7-2
or the
“Disable the BBU by Disconnecting
the BBU Harness Cable” section on page 7-3
.
b.
If the router does not have any installed BBUs, skip to the
“Check SYS LED” section on page 7-4

Disable the BBU by Disconnecting the BBU Harness Cable
Disabling the BBU by disconnecting the BBU harness cable can be used when console or terminal acees
is not available and you cannot disable the BBU at the CLI.
Note
For routers using Cisco IOS, you must disable the BBU by disconnecting the BBU harness cable. You
can only disable BBU by terminal or console access on routers using Cisco CG-OS.
To disable the BBU by disconnecting the BBU harness cable:
Step 1
Confirm that the router AC power is disconnected.
Step 2
Disconnect the BBU harness cable.
