6.14 Shading white (flat field) referencing
Any features on the surface of the white reference (e.g. dust, scratches) will end up in the
reference profile of the camera.
Use a moving homogenous white reference target during the referencing process.
The movement will result in an averaging process and the camera will diminish the
effects on any small variation in the white reference.
White balancing was performed (see chapter 6.12, p. 68)
Black referencing was performed (see chapter 6.13, p. 76)
For the 3DPIXA dual camera, the shading white (flat field) referencing has to be performed for
the master camera and the slave camera.
1. Make sure that the white reference is at the best focus plane of the camera.
2. Acquire an image.
The image (= shading (flat field) reference) should have at least 500 lines.
3. Open the
Reference generation wizard
by selecting the appropriate toolbar icon.
4. Select the type of reference 1:
White (flat field) level reference
5. Select the image source 2:
Load reference image from disk
6. Select the
Next
(right arrow) button.

8. Select the
Next
button.
A shading (flat field) reference generation window opens.
