5 Installing the 3D scanner system
3DPIXA
CD40131 Version 1
43 / 99
– Moving the camera (2), the direction of the marker (3) on the camera housing is
contrary to the camera moving direction.
If forward scan direction cannot be implemented, the following steps must be
performed:
– For correct image acquisition of the 3DPIXA, set the camera parameter
set scan
direction
via CST or CS-API to backward.
– For correct 3D calculation, invert the parameter
invertTransportDirection
in the
configuration file via 3D-Viewer or 3D-API.
For a more detailed description, refer to chapter 6.9, p. 65.
5. When the camera is aligned correctly, fix the mounting plate to the holder.
6. Check again the correct distance and alignment of the camera and correct it, if necessary.
7. If the thermal contact of the camera is low, install a fan and direct it at a large camera
surface area.

Preparing the 3D scanner system components
For the installation of the Corona II Illumination refer to the Corona II manual.
1. Install the illumination:
– Mount the illumination at the correct working distance.
– Adjust the focusing point of the illumination.
The camera should be looking at the brightest illuminated area.
2. Prepare the PC:
– Install the GPU.
– Install the frame grabber.
– If Corona II Illumination is used: Install the RS232 port (see Corona II manual).
– Turn on the PC.
– Install the NVidia Driver.
The newest version can be downloaded from
http://www.nvidia.de/download/index.aspx
A list of GPUs tested can be found on our partner portal at
http://www.chromasens.de/user (Downloads > System Requirements > 3DPIXA
System Requirements).
3. Install the optional trigger device (encoder and/or light barrier).
For dual cameras, a frame start signal is required to ensure the acquisition of 2 images
simultaneously (see chapter 4.9, p. 31).
