Gauge blocks can be used to place and align the camera at the correct working distance.
This is recommended especially for the alignment of the 3DPIXA dual camera.
4. Align the camera so that the following conditions are fulfilled:
– The sensor line is adjusted perpendicular (90°) to the transport direction:
Fig. 16: Adjusting the sensor line
1
Correct camera alignment: Camera is perpendicular to the transport direction
2
Incorrect camera alignment
Misalignment of the sensor line would result in chromatic aberration on the image
because the same point on the object will be imaged at different positions on the trilinear
sensor (see right-hand side in Fig. 16, p. 41).
– In the standard case, the longitudinal and transverse axes of the camera are adjusted
perpendicular (90°) to the inspection plane (see Fig. 17, p. 41).
– If the longitudinal alignment cannot be satisfactorily performed, for example using
bright field illumination, the result is chromatic aberration in the image and different
scaling of the 3 color lines. These effects in turn have an influence on the 2D image
quality and the 3D measurement accuracy. In this case, special precautions must be
carried out with the 3DPIXA. Please contact the Chromasens support.
Longitudinal misalignment would result in chromatic aberration in the image and different
scaling of the 3 color lines:

1
Correct camera alignment: Camera axis is perpendicular to the transport plane
and to the transport direction
