Principle design of the camera
4.2.1
Image acquisition
During operation an object is scanned by a CCD sensor.

In both camera types, 2 lenses (2, 3) at a defined distance create images of the object (1) on
a CCD sensor.
The CCD sensor of the 3DPIXA compact camera is divided into a front tab (5) and a rear
tab (4) delivering a single stereo image (6, 7).
The 3DPIXA dual camera is equipped with 2 physically separated sensors (8, 9)
delivering master (11) and slave images (10).
The 2 images show slightly different perspective views of the object. These views are used for
3D calculation (see chapter 4.4, p. 24).
