GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The 1977 truck is e quipped with a wide range of
tube o r tubeless type tires and wheels selected according
to the truck G ross Vehicle W eight Rating (G V W R ) and
type o f service. T he dual rear wheel option is available
on Series 30 trucks. T he factor installed bias belted tires
are selected to provide the best all around tire
p e rfo rm a n c e for all norm al operations. All tires are
m a n u fa c tu red for use on wheels o f specific size,
c o n fig u ra tio n an d load c a r r y in g capacity. W h e n
replacing a worn or d a m a g e d tire it is essential that you
use a replacem ent tire o f the same size and load rating
as that with which the vehicle was equipped when
m a n u factu red . Use o f any o th e r size o f tire may
seriously affect ride, handling, ground clearance, tire
clearance an d speedom eter calibration. Similarly, use of
wheels with offsets other than recom m ended, or use of
w hat are com m only referred to as "reversed rim s" may
seriously o v erlo ad wheel b e a rin g s o r o th e r axle
com ponents causing rapid w ear or failure o f these parts
and void the vehicle w arranty. To achieve best all
a ro u n d vehicle han d lin g p e rfo rm a n c e belted tires and
bias ply tires should not be mixed on the same truck.
Because o f possible adverse effects on vehicle handling,
do not mix ra d ia l ply tires with other type tires on the
sam e vehicle.
NOTE: On four-wheel drive vehicles all tires must
be o f equal size (but not necessarily ply rating) and
o f same tread configuration.
TUBELESS TIR E S
These tire have an inner liner which, i f punctured,
tends to cling to the penetratin g object fo rm ing a partial
seal until the object is removed from the tire. It is
essential to conduct a periodic pressure check according
to the tire inflation tables on the following pages plus a
visual tire inspection to detect im bedded objects which
might otherwise go unnoticed and cause serious casing
damage.
