Test the Spindle: This procedure assumes the spindle is configured for 0 to +10VDC
1) Put probes from the multimeter into the
AN GND
and
AN OUT
on header 2, screw the terminals down.
2) Using MDI mode, issue a command to turn the spindle on at 0 RPM and measure the voltage, it should be
0 V
◦
Example:
M3 S 0
→
0 VDC
3) Using MDI mode, issue a command to turn the spindle on at 25% of the max spindle speed, set in step 4.1.3, and
measure the voltage, it should be
2.5 V
, if it does not, ensure the spindle settings are correct.
Example:
If max spindle speed is 3000, issue
M3 S 750
, the multimeter should read
2.5 V
4) Repeat at 50%, 75%, and 100% of the max speed, the multimeter should read:
◦
5 VDC
with
M3 S 1500
◦
7.5 VDC
with
M3 S 2250
◦
10 VDC
with
M3 S 3000
Bench Testing Completed. Power off and disconnect the
components.
At this point it is confirmed that the Oak Board powers up, the parameters are set correctly, and the spindle voltage works.
