INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE – SHOCK ABSORBER
Summary
“C.A.M.P. Shock Absorbers” are energy absorbers conforming to standard EN 355:2002.
The integrated connectors are compliant with the EN 362:2004 standard.
Various models and standard versions are available, shown in
Tab. A
. Other special combinations of connectors and
special lengths are available and the relative data are shown on the product marking.
This product is intended for use in a fall arrest system to protect against the risk of falls from a height.
Use
One of the snap hook of the energy absorber with lanyard must be connected only to the sternal or dorsal attachment
point of a full body harness. Second one must be connected to the structural anchor point. Do not connect to the gear
loops or other components of the harness: danger of death! The maximum length of energy absorber in connection
with lanyard and connectors shall not exceed 2 m (
¿J
). The anchor point must be preferentially located

kN (metal anchors) or 18 kN (fabric anchors).
All the connectors used must comply with EN 362. Always check that the connectors are set out along the major axis,
that the lever closes and that it is not subject to stress. Avoid that the connectors are subject to transverse stresses.
Refer to the instruction manual for all the components to check for compatibility.
The maximum user weight (including equipment and tools) is 100 kg.

). It is calculated
using the following equation: Fall Factor = Height of Fall / Length of Lanyard. In situations where the Fall Factor will be
0 (e.g. the worker is positioned under the anchor point on a tensioned lanyard) or in situations where the Fall Factor
is 1 or less and the freedom of movement is limited to 0.6 m or less, positioning equipment is adequate. Fall arrest
equipment must be used for other situations where the Fall Factor is greater than 1 or more freedom of movement
is required. Calculate the clearance distance under the anchor point to ensure that a worker cannot hit the ground
(
¿J
): Clearance Distance = A (Lanyard length) + B (Shock absorber extension) + C (Distance between harness

The extension of the energy absorber depends on the height of the fall and the fall factor: for a mass of 100 kg it

will be: Factor 2= 1.6 m , Factor 1= 0.9 m , Factor 0= 0 m

The 50301 and 50302 models have successfully passed the tests for horizontal use over sharp edges with radius
0.5 mm (

). They can therefore be used on horizontal and sloping structures where the edges have
radius >=0.5 mm; always take account that use over sharp edges has additional risks and should therefore be limited
as much as possible, in addition to those shown in the previous paragraphs:
