The PNNI Configuration Screen

AUTO USING BOARD # Address Example
This mode is useful for flexibility and interoperability. A user must configure a unique
suffix (bits 81 to 100 when the default PNNI level is used) for each SmartSwitch 9500 in
the network. The autoconfiguration of bits 101 to 104 ensures that each 9A656-04 in a
chassis has a unique prefix and allows for easy identification of each module.
•
MANUAL -
In this mode the PNNI Level field is defaulted to 104. This mode allows the
user to modify the entire 13 byte (104 bits) NSAP prefix of the system. Refer to
Figure 2-18
.
Figure 2-18
MANUAL Address Example
This mode may be used if there is only one 9A656-04 installed in the chassis, or if there are
multiple 9A656-04s and the PNNI Level is set to 104. If the PNNI level is set to a value
besides 104, PNNI routing will see multiple nodes with the same prefix. This will cause PNNI
to calculate paths to nodes that may or may not have the destination user attached to that node.
Only experienced users should configure PNNI manually.
