Configure Modbus Communication Settings
Use the procedure in this section to configure communication parameters for the Bullhorn unit.
The Bullhorn unit supports communication protocols for a Modbus ASCII, Modbus RTU,
Mercury, Dresser, Reynolds 16-bit, or Reynolds 32-bit input device.
Complete the following steps:
1.
Click
Change
in the
Modbus Comm Settings
group box (Figure 3-21) on the main
configuration window to display the
Modbus Communication Settings
window. You can
also display the
Modbus Communication Settings
window by clicking
Tools
>
Settings
>
Modbus
>
Comm Settings
.

Select an option from the list in the
Protocol
field that identifies the type of input device
connected to the Bullhorn unit.

If you are working with a Dresser input device, choose the
Dresser I
protocol
if the input device was manufactured
before 2005
or the
Dresser II
protocol if the device
was manufactured
after 2005

If needed, refer to the technical specifications for the input device or contact the
manufacturer to determine the appropriate selection for the next steps.

Select a baud rate option that identifies the communication rate of the input device in the
Baud Rate
field.
4.
Select

(even), or

(odd) in the
Parity
field.
5.
Select either
7
or
8
in the
Data Bit
s field.
