Chapter 2. Installation

Installing the Battery Charger

The battery chargers listed below can be used with any of the unit types identified in this manual
that include the sealed lead acid battery:



Solar Panel Battery Charger:

The charger provides approximately 14 days of operation

without sun when the unit transmits one transmission per day. For maximum efficiency,
install the solar panel with the glass panel facing south.

The installation may include the 1.65 watt solar panel or 5 watt solar panel. View the
product label on the shipping carton or on the back of the solar panel to determine which
solar panel you are installing.

If you are working with the 1.65 watt solar panel, continue the installation with

on page 45. If you are working with the 5 watt solar

panel, install the solar panel using the installation manual (part number 122119-000
122119-001) provided with the solar panel. The installation manual is also available for
download on the Bullhorn website.



Optional AC Battery Charger:

If 110VAC is available near the unit or the unit is installed

indoors, the optional AC battery charger can be used in place of the solar panel battery
charger.

The AC battery charger plugs into an electrical wall outlet and connects to the battery
charger positive (+) and negative (–) terminals on the controller board. Use a minimum of
24 gauge wire for connections.
