Use a wrench to tighten the water-tight fitting on the bottom of the unit.

Mounting the Anodized Aluminum Enclosure (GSM Only)
The following procedure applies to the SDT16-GSM digital cellular unit. It uses an anodized
aluminum enclosure.
Complete the following steps to mount the unit:
1.
Prepare the mounting surface for installation of the unit. For unit dimensions, refer to
Figure 2-1 on page 29.

Allow enough working space around the unit so that you can easily perform
routine maintenance and configuration changes. Also make sure the antenna is clear of
metal structures that may cause radio signal interference. Install the unit in an area that
provides a minimum RSSI of –88dB or better. For more information, see
Mounting
Requirements on page 28.

Secure the unit to the mounting surface using hardware that is appropriate for the type of
mounting surface.

If you installed the sealed lead acid battery, continue with Installing the Battery Charger on
page 44. If you installed the lithium battery instead, continue with Connecting Input Wires to
the Unit on page 51.
Mounting the NEMA-Rated Enclosure (GSM Only)
If you are working with the SDT16-GSM that includes the NEMA rated enclosure, complete the
following steps to mount the enclosure and install the battery:
1.
Mount the enclosure in the desired location using hardware suitable for the type of
mounting surface. The location should provide a clear, unobstructed view of the sky that is
clear of all obstructions such as building, trees, and hills.
2.
Place the 12 volt, sealed lead acid battery in the battery holder located inside the enclosure.
Do not connect the battery at this time.
3.
Continue with the next section to install the battery charger.
