Installation

Introduction

This chapter explains how to install SDT16 Bullhorn units. The information applies to the
following unit types:



SDT16-GSM



SDT16-ORB



SDT16-SAT

This chapter explains how to install a Bullhorn unit that uses digital cellular (GSM) or satellite
(SkyWave-Inmarsat or ORBCOMM) communications with the Bullhorn website.

When an installation procedure applies only to digital cellular units, the title of the procedure
includes the text (GSM Only). Likewise, (ORB Only) indicates the procedure applies only to units
that use the ORBCOMM satellite network, while (SAT Only) indicates the procedure applies only
to units that use the SkyWave-Inmarsat satellite network. When a procedure applies to all unit types
regardless of the communication network, the title of the procedure does not include any of these
identifiers.

The following list provides an overview of the installation process based on the type of unit you
plan to install and in the order typically performed in the field.



All Unit Types:

Determine where to install the unit making sure objects or the terrain do

not interfere with digital cellular or satellite communications.



GSM Units with Anodized Aluminum Enclosure (KORE Wireless):

Install the angle bracket,

battery, antenna surge protector, and antenna. Mount the anodized aluminum enclosure,
install the battery charger if the installation includes the sealed lead acid battery and then
connect the input device in the input channels on the unit.



GSM Units with NEMA-rated Enclosure (KORE Wireless):

Mount the NEMA-rated

enclosure. Install the battery charger, antenna surge protector, and antenna, and then
connect the input device in the input channels on the unit.
