Maintenance
Introduction
Bullhorn units require very little maintenance. The inside of the unit should be kept dry and dust
free as much as possible. When maintenance is required, use the configuration software to:

check for transmission retries

adjust the controller clock

check the battery voltage or RSSI level
Battery
Bullhorn units check the battery voltage level when the radio turns on and begins transmitting. If
the battery’s voltage level is too low, the unit includes a low voltage alarm (LVA) in the data
transmission to your website account. The low voltage alarm displays on the Unit Detail Status
window. When the unit detects a low battery voltage, you should either recharge or replace the
battery as soon as possible to ensure uninterrupted service.

If you are working with a lithium battery, please observe all precautions listed in Lithium
Battery Precautions on page 9.
Solar Panel Battery Charger
The solar panel battery charger should be cleaned with mild soap and water when the glass surface
is dusty or dirty in order to maintain maximum charging efficiency. Periodically check the cable
going to the unit for nicks or cuts. A broken or cracked glass panel should be replaced as soon as
possible.
