—Remove and refit

12.13.01

Removing

1. Isolate the battery.

2. Remove the radiator. 26.40.01.

3. Remove the L.H. grille (as from the driver’s seat).

76.55.03.

4. Remove the cylinder head. 12.29.10.

5. Withdraw the cam followers, identifying for re

assembly.

6. Remove the distributor drive shaft and gear.

7.  Remove  the fuel  pump.  19.45.08.
8.  Remove  the  timing chain  and  sprockets.  12.65.12.
9.  Remove  the  two  bolts  and  withdraw  the  camshaft

location plate.

10.  Support the  front of the  engine  with  a jack.
11.  Remove  the  front  R.H.  engine  mounting bolts.
12.  Remove the front  L.H.  engine  mounting bolts.
13.  Jack  up  the  front  of  the  engine  sufficiently  to

withdraw the camshaft through the grille aperture.

14. Withdraw the camshaft.

Refitting

15. Reverse instructions 1 to 14, and in addition:

a.

Check the camshaft end-float, and reduce if

necessary by fitting a new camshaft location
plate. See instruction 55, 12.41.05.

b.

Time the valves. 12.65.08.
