Lamps and bulbs
The lam p s and b ulb s are essential
fac tors c ontrib uting to the safety of your
vehic le. For this reason, follow the
instruc tions b elow c arefully w hen
rep lac ing a b ulb . If you are not fam iliar
w ith any of the p roc ed ures, c onsult
your B M W c enter.
Do not touc h the glass p ortion of a
new b ulb w ith your b are hand s
sinc e even sm all am ounts of im p urities
b urn into the surfac e and red uc e the
servic e life of the b ulb . Use a c lean
c loth, p ap er nap kin, or a sim ilar m ate-
rial, or hold the b ulb b y its m etallic
b ase.

A rep lac em ent b ulb set is availab le from
your B M W c enter.
Whenever w orking on the elec -
tric al system , sw itc h off the elec -
tric al ac c essory you are w orking on or
d isc onnec t the c ab le from the negative
term inal of the b attery. Failure to d o this
c ould result in short c irc uits.
To p revent injuries and d am age,
c om p ly w ith any instruc tions p rovid ed
b y the b ulb m anufac turer.

1 Low beams
H7 b ulb , 55 w atts
The b ulb is p ressurized . There-
fore, w ear safety glasses and
p rotec tive gloves. Failure to c om p ly
w ith this p rec aution c ould lead to injury
if the b ulb is ac c id entally d am aged
d uring rep lac em ent.

1 Turn the b ulb hold er to the left (arrow )
and rem ove.
2 Rem ove and rep lac e the b ulb .

2 H igh beams
HB 3 b ulb , 60 w atts
The b ulb is p ressurized . There-
fore, w ear safety glasses and
p rotec tive gloves. Failure to c om p ly
w ith this p rec aution c ould lead to injury
if the b ulb is ac c id entally d am aged
d uring rep lac em ent.

1 Turn the b ulb to the left and rem ove.
2 Disc onnec t the p lug.
3 Plug the new b ulb into the p lug
c onnec tor. B e sure that it is sec urely
engaged .
4 Install in the op p osite ord er.
When c leaning the head lam p s,
p lease ob serve the follow ing:
>
Do not w ip e d ry (sc ratc hes). Never
use ab rasives or strong solvents to
c lean the c overs.
>
Rem ove d irt and c ontam ination (suc h
as insec ts) b y soaking w ith B M W Car
Sham p oo and then rinsing w ith p lenty
of w ater.
>
Alw ays use a d eic er sp ray to rem ove
ac c um ulated ic e and snow – never
use a sc rap er.
