As a result of the trac tion interven-
tion, the b rakes m ay b e sub jec ted
to ad d itional load s w hen the system is
d eac tivated . For this reason, it is
p ossib le that the b raking intervention
w ill b e d isab led autom atic ally for a b rief
p eriod in ord er to lim it b rake tem p era-
ture.
To m aintain vehic le stab ility, alw ays
d rive w ith the system sw itc hed on w hen
p ossib le.

ap p rop riate d riving style alw ays
rem ains the resp onsib ility of the d river.
We therefore urge you to avoid using
the ad d itional safety m argin of the
system as an exc use for taking risks.

DSC system . Servic e p roc ed ures on
the system are to b e p erform ed b y
authorized tec hnic ians only.

The concept
HDC is a system for d riving d ow nhill in
steep terrain. This system red uc es
vehic le sp eed on steep d ow nhill grad i-
ents, thus allow ing you to m aintain
c ontrol of your B M W und er these
c ond itions.
The vehic le m oves at slightly m ore than
w alking sp eed w ithout ac tive interven-
tion from the d river.
You c an ac tivate HDC b elow ap p rox.
20 m p h (30 km / h). When d riving d ow n
steep hills, the vehic le red uc es sp eed
autom atic ally d ow n to slightly m ore
than w alking sp eed (ap p rox. 5 m p h/
8 km / h) and then m aintains this sp eed
at a c onstant.
B y ap p lic ations of the b rakes or ac c el-
erator, you c an alter this sp eed in the
range of ap p rox. 3 m p h (5 km / h) to
ap p rox. 20 m p h (30 km / h).
HDC is d eac tivated autom atic ally if you
exc eed ap p rox. 35 m p h (60 km / h).
