Safety sw itch
With the safety sw itc h, you c an p revent
the rear w ind ow s from b eing op ened or
c losed via the sw itc hes in the rear
p assenger area (b y c hild ren, for
exam p le). You c an also p revent ad just-
m ents of the p ow er rear- seat b ac krests
from the rear p assenger area (refer to
p age
52
).
Press the safety sw itc h w henever
c hild ren are rid ing in the rear of
the vehic le. Careless use of the p ow er
w ind ow s c an lead to injury.

To p revent injuries, exerc ise c are
w hen c losing the slid ing/ tilt
sunroof and keep it in your field of
vision until it is shut.
B efore leaving the vehic le, sw itc h off
the elec tric sunroof m ec hanism b y
taking out the ignition key. Do not leave
c hild ren unattend ed in the vehic le w ith
ac c ess to vehic le keys. Use of the key
c an result in starting of the engine and
op eration of vehic le system s suc h as
the p ow er sunroof, etc . Unsup ervised
use of these system s c an result in
serious p ersonal injury.

You c an avoid p ressure or d rafts in the
p assenger c om p artm ent w hen the
sunroof is op en or lifted b y op ening the
air outlets in the instrum ent p anel and
inc reasing the air sup p ly as req uired .

If the sunroof is c om p letely op en, air
d isturb anc es m ay b e c aused in the
vehic le w hen you are d riving at higher
sp eed s. Close the roof as far as is
nec essary until this natural p henom -
enon c eases.

Lifting – Opening – Closing
With the ignition key in p osition 1 or
higher, p ress the sw itc h or slid e it in the
d esired d irec tion until you feel resis-
tanc e.
The head liner insert slid es b ac k som e-
w hat w hen you raise the sunroof. When
the sunroof is op ened , the head liner
retrac ts w ith it.
When the top is up , d o not try to
forc e the sunroof trim p iec e
c losed , otherw ise the m ec hanism w ill
b e d am aged .

After the ignition has b een sw itc hed off,
you c an still op erate the slid ing/ tilt
sunroof as long as neither of the front
d oors has b een op ened .
