The left w ip er is p artially c onc ealed b y
the hood . In ord er to b ring the w ip ers to
roughly a vertic al p osition (this is im p or-
tant for c hanging the w ip er b lad es or to
fold the w ip ers out d uring frosty
w eather, for exam p le):

With the lever in p osition 1, sw itc h off
the ignition as soon as the w ip ers
c om e to a stop .
If eq uip p ed w ith a rain sensor

1 Sw itc h on the w ip ers w ith the lever in
p osition 1, 2 or 4.
2 When the w ip ers are ap p rox. vertic al,
sw itc h the ignition off.

the w ind shield b efore you turn the
ignition key to p osition 1 or 2 again. If

1 Intermittent mode or rain
sensor

Interm ittent w ip e:
You c an set the w ip e interval to four
stages w ith rotary d ial 7.
In ad d ition, the w ip e interval is varied
autom atic ally d ep end ing on road
sp eed .
Rain sensor:
When the rain sensor is ac tivated , the
w ind shield w ip er is c ontrolled autom ati-
c ally, d ep end ing on the d egree of
w etness of the w ind shield (in b oth snow
and rain). You d o not have to b e
c onc erned w ith sw itc hing the w ind -
shield w ip er on or off or ad justing the
w ip e interval b etw een interm ittent and
full w ip e. Instead , you c an c onc entrate
fully on the traffic c ond itions. This is
esp ec ially im p ortant und er ad verse
w eather c ond itions.
The rain sensor is p ositioned on the
w ind shield , d irec tly in front of the inte-
rior rearview m irror.
To ac tivate the rain sensor:
M ove the lever to p osition 1 w ith the
ignition key in p osition 1 or higher. The
w ip ers travel onc e ac ross the w ind -
shield , regard less of the w eather
c ond itions.
