The average consumption can be displayed on

the Control Display.

Coasting

Principle

Under certain conditions the engine is auto-

matically decoupled from the transmission in

the D selector lever position. The vehicle con-

tinues traveling in Neutral to reduce consump-

tion. Selector lever position D remains en-

gaged.

This driving condition is referred to as coast-

ing.
As soon as you step on the brake or accelera-

tor pedal, the engine is automatically coupled

again.

General information

Coasting is a component of the ECO PRO driv-

ing mode.
Coasting is automatically activated when ECO

PRO driving mode is called via the Driving Dy-

namics Control.
A proactive driving style helps the driver to use

the function as often as possible and supports

the efficient effect of coasting.

Functional requirements

The function is available in the speed range

from approx. 15 mph/25 km/h up to

100 mph/160 km/h.
The function is active if the following conditions

are met:

▷

Accelerator pedal and brake pedal not de-

pressed.

▷

The selector lever is in selector lever posi-

tion D.

▷

Engine and transmission are at operating

temperature.

▷

With a camera in the area of the interior

mirror: the system does not detect any ve-

hicles ahead of you.

▷

With the route-ahead assistant: the system

does not detect any obstructive traffic sit-

uations or routes.

Principle

Depending on your vehicle's equipment, the

Coasting mode can be influenced with the shift

paddles.
