With automatic trunk lid actuation:
contactless trunk opening and
closing
Principle
The trunk can be opened and closed contact-
less using the vehicle key you are carrying.
Two sensors detect a forward-directed foot
movement in the central rear area and the tail-
gate is opened or closed.
General information
To avoid locking the vehicle key in the vehicle,
do not place the vehicle key in the cargo area.
If the vehicle key is in the sensor area, the tail-
gate may open or close inadvertently if you un-
intentionally move your foot or if a foot move-
ment is detected.
The sensor has an approximate range of
5 ft/1.50 m extending from the rear area.
If the trunk is opened contactless, locked doors
are not unlocked.
Contactless trunk opening and closing must be
activated in the settings.
Safety information
Warning
During no-touch activation, vehicle parts may
be touched, such as the hot exhaust system.
There is a risk of injury. When moving your
foot, make sure you have a firm stance and
do not touch the vehicle.
Warning
Body parts can be jammed when operating
the tailgate. There is a risk of injury. Make
sure that the travel path of the tailgate is
clear during opening and closing.
Warning
The tailgate swings back and up when it
opens. There is a risk of injury or risk of dam-
age to property. Make sure that the travel
path of the tailgate is clear during opening
and closing.
Settings
1. "My Vehicle"
2. "Vehicle settings"
3. "Doors/Key"
4. "Tailgate"
5. Select the desired setting:
▷ "Open by foot movement"
Contactless trunk opening is switched
on or off.
▷ "Close by foot movement"
Contactless trunk closing is switched on
or off.
Performing the foot movement
1. Stand in the middle behind the vehicle at
approx. one arm's length away from the
rear of the vehicle.
2. Wave a foot under the vehicle in the driving
direction and immediately pull it back. With
this movement, the leg must pass through
the ranges of both sensors.
Opening
Perform the foot movement described earlier.
