ACTT Xspotter Service Manual

Oil level must be even with bottom of fill plug hole

Note: When steam cleaning the axle or

within the axle area, the axle breather

cap must be covered to prevent moisture

and contaminants from entering the axle

housing.

• Check the rear axle. See axle

manufacturers’ documentation for

procedures and specifications.

• Inspect the pinion shaft bearing for possible

wear.

• Check pinion bearing wear.
• Inspect the wheel seals and axle area for

evidence of leakage.

Steering and Suspension

Front Suspension

• Check front springs, shackles, mounts,

mount bolts and U-bolts. Check the spring

hangers, mounts and all brackets for cracks

and proper bolt torque.

• Check for broken or cracked leaf springs.
• Inspect spring hangers for cracks.
• Tighten the spring hanger to frame bolts to

specification.

• Check center bolt and springs for shifting on

the axle.

• Check U-bolts for proper torque and to

ensure that the bolts have not shifted. Refer

to the Special Torque Chart in this Service

Manual section.

• Check spring eyes and pins for wear and

cracks. Wear must not exceed 0.125 in.

(3.18 mm).

Steering

• Check the steering gear box for secure

mounting.

• Check steering column for secure mounting

and smoothness of bearings.

• Inspect power steering hoses for damage or

leakage, and routing or clamping.

Note: Refer to the steer axle manufacturers’

documentation for procedures,

specifications, and service intervals.

• Lubricate steering and front suspension

(see manufacturers’ documentation for

interval, procedure and specifications).

Rear Suspension

• Check the rear suspension for cracks

and secure mounting. Refer to the

manufacturer’s service literature, or the

appropriate Autocar suspension service

manual for service procedures.
