Getting Connected

6.3 Using Bluetooth

Bluetooth

is a short-range wireless communications technology. Devices with Bluetooth

capabilities can exchange information over a distance of about 10 meters without requiring

a physical connection. You can even beam information to a device in a different room, as

long as it is within range.
The software included with your XV6700 allows you to use Bluetooth to beam information

between devices that have Bluetooth capabilities, such as ﬁles, appointments, tasks, and

contact cards.

To turn on or off Bluetooth on your XV6700
1.

On your XV6700, tap

Start > Settings > Connections

tab

> Bluetooth

Select the

Turn on Bluetooth

and

Make this device discoverable to other devices

check boxes.

Tap

Note

To add an extra layer of security while beaming information with other devices, or to set

up Bluetooth synchronization, tap

Start > Settings > System

tab

Bluetooth modes

Bluetooth on your XV6700 operates in three different modes:

•

. Bluetooth is turned on and you can use Bluetooth features.

•

Off

. Bluetooth is turned off. In this mode, you can neither send nor receive information

using Bluetooth. You might want to turn the radio off at times in order to conserve battery

power, or in situations where radio use is prohibited, such as onboard an aircraft and in

hospitals.

•

Discoverable

. Bluetooth is turned on, and all other Bluetooth-enabled devices within a

range of 10 meters can detect your XV6700.

Note

By default, Bluetooth is turned off. If you turn it on, and then turn off your XV6700,

Bluetooth also turns off. When you turn on your XV6700 again, Bluetooth automatically

turns on.
