gloves it is recommended to wear these UNDER your jacket if you ride with your wrist lower than the elbow and OVER your jacket if
your wrist is higher than the elbow.
Open your hand flat. There should be no material in contact with the tips of your fingers. The glove should feel tight, but not restrictive so
as to impede sufficient movement of the hand. In a second step make a clenched fist or grip a motorcycle handlebar. Check that there is
none or only slight contact at the fingertips and that there are no large folds of material on the palm. Ensure that there is enough finger
movement to correctly operate the motorcycle controls.
Note that for leather gloves choose a slightly tighter glove as the gloves will stretch over a short period to become optimised to your hand.
For winter gloves the fit should be slightly looser to allow air to circulate through the glove insulation.
USE
Prior to riding, the gloves must be put on and fastened as instructed above. At all times when riding make sure that your gloves are
correctly and tightly fastened.
Remember that for sensible motorcycling the full body must be protected and as such the gloves should be worn with correctly fitting
motorcycle clothing, boots and a helmet.
CARE / CLEANING – LEATHER GLOVES
• After riding, put the gloves on and clean them using a damp cloth.
• For stains that are difficult to remove, a neutral soap, or a leather cleaner for motorcycle clothing may be used. Do not use hot water
or chemical agents or solvents for cleaning.
• Do not let gloves come into contact with solvents (including petrol) this may degrade the materials and/or affect the colours.
• Wearing leather gloves in the rain is not recommended, as over time this will dry the leather and compromise the strength of the
leather.
• If the gloves do become wet let them dry naturally in a warm, well ventilated area out of direct sunlight. Do not wring them out, or place
them on direct heat sources over 40°C. as these will make the leather stiff and will compromise the gloves’ qualities.
CARE / CLEANING – TEXTILE GLOVES
• After riding the gloves may be cleaned using a damp cloth.
• For deeper cleaning put the gloves on and dip your hands in a basin of warm soapy water. Make a hand washing action.in the water..
Do not use detergents other than neutral soap or chemical agents or solvents for cleaning.
• Allow to dry naturally in a warm, well ventilated area. Note that where gloves have leather patches on the palm, the drying restrictions
indicated above for leather gloves apply.
• Do not let gloves come into contact with solvents (including petrol) this may degrade the materials and/or affect the colours.
• For waterproof gloves pay attention when handling sharp objects which could pierce the waterproof lining and thereby compromise
the waterproofness of the gloves.
STORAGE
Ensure that the gloves are completely dry before storing. To prevent mildew or other degradation to the gloves, Store in a dry and well
ventilated area. Do not store inside a sealed bag or container, or underneath heavy objects.
MAINTENANCE
Periodically (preferably after each use) inspect the gloves for any damage such as areas of excessive material wear or abrasion,
holes, open seams or open stitching, and check that all fastening systems are functional. In the event of any such damage or should the
fastening system no longer function, do not use the gloves as the gloves will require replacement.
In the event of an accident the same checks must be conducted as above before the gloves are reused. In case of doubt have the gloves
inspected by an Alpinestars authourized dealer.
