Boot-up Routine
If you are unable to run a complete self test, monitor this boot-up routine to isolate a faulty assembly. The entire procedure must be
completed prior to troubleshooting an identified faulty assembly. Complete each step, taking note of any item that does not respond as
expected, then troubleshoot as described in
.
1.
Check the yellow standby LED.
a.
Connect the signal generator to a power source.
b.
Turn the signal generator off.
c.
Confirm that the yellow standby LED adjacent to the power button is lit.
2.
Check the green LED.
a.
Turn the signal generator on.
b.
Confirm that the yellow standby LED is off.
c.
Confirm that the green LED adjacent to the power button is lit.
3.
Verify that the front panel LCD display turns on. (N5181A/82A/83A only)
4.
Turn the signal generator off.
5.
Remove the outer and inner instrument covers. Refer to
Chapter 3, "Assembly Replacement"
for instructions on removing the
instrument covers.
6.
Turn the signal generator on.
7.
Visually inspect the fans to verify that the fans are turning.
8.
Turn power off.
9.
Position the signal generator with the bottom facing up.
10. Use
to locate the yellow debug LEDs (TP1 through TP5).
