Operation, configuration and communication
7.1 PROFIBUS communication
Bus communication of the "Sensyflow iG" thermal gas-mass flow meter with PROFIBUS interface is ba-
sed on the "Profile For Process Control Devices" version 3.0 ( PA profile 3.0 ) released in October 1999.
Bus coupling is realized via PROFIBUS DP (RS 485 transmission), supporting the acyclic PROFIBUS
DPV1 services.
The implementation is performed using the SPC3 ASIC and the Simatic Net DPSE Stack from Siemens.
Alarms are not supported in DPV1 communication.
PROFIBUS interface parameters
• DPV1 communication without alarms
• Support of C1 and C2 masters
• Max. transmission rate:
1.5 Megabaud
• ID number:
0x05CA
• GSD file name:
ABB_05CA.GSD
7.1.1
PROFIBUS slave addresses
In a PROFIBUS network a maximum of 127 stations can be addressed, and a maximum of 32 stations
may be connected per segment. If more than n
×
32 stations are to be operated in a network (n = 1, 2, 3,
etc. ) they must be connected via segment couplers. In every PROFIBUS network there is one Class 1
master which is used for cyclic data communication. Thus, 126 slave addresses are still available. Slave
address 0 should not be used for slaves, as it it often used as default master address. Slave address 126
should not be used either, as it is used as default slave address for commissioning slaves that allow
address setting via PROFIBUS. Note that Class 2 master devices for diagnosis and configuration that are
permanently or temporarily operated in the PROFIBUS network also need a PROFIBUS address.
Sensyflow iG with PROFIBUS connection provides two alternatives for setting the PROFIBUS slave
address.
Alternative 1:
Local address setting in SERVICE/SPECIALIST mode by using the display and the magnetic pen. In this
case there must not be a PROFIBUS communication connection to a Class 1 or Class 2 master. If a con-
nection to a Class 1 or Class 2 master exists, the slave address cannot be changed.
Alternative 2:
Remote address setting via SET SLAVE address telegram sent from the Class 1 or Class 2 master to the
slave via the PROFIBUS network.
Caution
PROFIBUS addresses must not be allocated more than once. PROFIBUS stations with identical address
cannot establish data communication with a Class 1 or Class 2 master. Slave address setting via PRO-
FIBUS does not work either if two or more stations are to be run with slave default address 126.
Caution
Changing the slave address via the display with magnetic pen in SERVICE/SPECIALIST mode must be
identical with setting the address in the Class 1 master of the respectively process control system or the
Class 2 master for diagnosis and configuration.
