It is re F ommended that the Temperature-Pressure Relief Valve should
be F he F ked to ensure that it is in operating F ondition every 6 months
When F he F king the Temperature-Pressure Relief Valve operation,
make sure that (1) no one is in front of or around outlet of Temperature-
Pressure Relief Valve dis F harge line, and (2) that water dis F harge
will not F ause any property damage, as water may be extremely hot
Use F are when operating valve as valve may be hot
To F he F k the pressure relief valve, lift lever at the end of valve several
times, see Figure 24 The valve should seat properly and operate freely
If after manually operating the valve, it fails to F ompletely reset and
F ontinues to release water, immediately F lose the F old water inlet to
the water heater and drain the water heater, see Draining And Flushing
on page 32 Repla F e the Temperature-Pressure Relief
Valve with a properly rated/sized new one, see Temperature-Pressure

regulate the F himney draft imposed on the unit The damper gate

REMOTE STORAGE TANK TEMPERATURE CONTROL
Water temperature in remote storage tank (if used) is F ontrolled by the
