Broadcast Storm Control
This chapter discusses the
Broadcast Storm Control
screen.
11.1 Introducing Broadcast Storm Control
Broadcast storm control limits the percentage of broadcast frames that can be stored in the switch buffer or sent out
from the switch. The switch discards broadcast frames that exceed the threshold percentage. Enable this feature
to
reduce broadcast traffic coming into your network.
11.2 Configuring Broadcast Storm Control
Click
Broadcast Strom Control
in the navigation panel to display the screen as shown next.

The following table describes the labels in this screen.

Select this check box
to enable broadcast storm control on the switch.
BSF ON
Threshold
Use the drop-down list box to select the Broadcast Storm Filtering (BSF) threshold. The switch
starts discarding broadcast frames when the percentage of broadcast frames (out of total frames)
exceeds this threshold. The switch discards broadcast frames until the percentage falls back below
the threshold.
Apply Click
Apply
to save your changes back to the switch.
Cancel Click
Cancel
to begin configuring this screen afresh.
