To transfer tests from an older
To transfer tests via serial cable:
HFA II to the HFA II - i series
via serial cable
1.
Turn both instruments ON and wait until you see the Main Menu screen.
2.
Connect the older HFA II and HFA II - i series unit with an IBM PC compatible serial
connector cable (9 pin male on one end and 9 pin male on the other). Plug one end
of the cable into the Data Transfer port on the HFA II -
i
series (refer to diagram in
Section 1 for the port location). Plug the other 9 pin connector into the Serial port
#1 on the back of the older HFA II. Refer to “System Components” in Section 1 of the
older HFA II User’s Guide for a detailed illustration of the ports on the HFA II.
ON THE HFA II - i SERIES:

From the System Setup screen, select SAVE/TRANSMIT OPTION.

Make sure the TRANSMIT VIA button indicates Serial. Select SERIAL TRANSMIT
SETTINGS.
5.
On the RS-232 Options screen, set BAUD RATE to 9600, PARITY to Even, DATA BITS
to 7, and STOP BITS to 1.
6.
Press PROCEED. The Transmit/Save screen will then appear. Press PROCEED.

Press the
FILE FUNCTIONS
icon on the right of the screen.
8.
Select TRANSFER TESTS.
9.
Select HFA SERIAL CABLE as the Source.
10.
Choose HARD DRIVE or FLOPPY as the Destination, then press PROCEED.
ON THE OLDER HFA II:

From the System Setup screen, select SAVE/TRANSMIT OPTION.

Select RS-232 OPTIONS.
13.
On the RS-232 Options screen, set BAUD RATE to 9600, PARITY to Even, DATA BITS
to 7, and STOP BITS to 1.

Press PROCEED. The Transmit/Save screen will then appear. Press PROCEED.

Press the
FILE FUNCTIONS
icon on the right of the screen.
16.
Select TRANSFER TESTS.
17.
Select HARD DRIVE or FLOPPY as the Source.
18.
Choose HFA II SERIAL CABLE as the Destination, then press PROCEED.
19.
Choose the tests you wish to transfer then press PROCEED to start transferring.
ON THE HFA II - i series:

A pop-up window will update the user on the progress and success of test transfer.
21.
When the “tests transferred” count on the pop-up window has not changed for
several seconds, test transfer is complete. Press CANCEL. If you do not press CANCEL
within about 10 minutes, the HFA II will automatically proceed to the next step.
22.
The transferred tests will then be moved from temporary to permanent storage. Press
OK when the pop-up window informs you that the transmission is complete.
