The electronic battery tester is a portable device that is easy
to use starter battery and battery charging system tester with
rated voltage of 12 V. The device is always ready for operation
because the power supply is taken directly from the tested bat-
tery. The correct, reliable, and safe operation of the appliance
depends on its proper use, therefore:

Types of batteries that can be tested:
lead-acid (so-called wet),
VRLA (Valve Regulated Lead Acid) - valve-regulated lead-acid
(so-called gel),
AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) - a type of gel battery, where the
electrolyte is located in high porosity

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Keep your working environment safe. The workplace should be
well lit. Make sure that you have enough space to move freely in
the work area. Keep your working environment free from obsta-
cles, grease, oils, rubbish and other waste.
The device is not resistant to spills and is designed for indoor
use. Do not expose the device to water, precipitation or other
liquids.
Check the rating label of the product for important information.
If the label is missing or illegible, ask the manufacturer for a re-
placement.
Avoid contact with all hot engine parts, otherwise you can get
burned.
Avoid setting
fi
re or an explosion by accident. Do not smoke and
do not keep open
fi
re near fuel, engine and battery.
Working in the vicinity of lead-acid batteries can be dangerous
as they produce potentially explosive gases. Read and follow the
instructions manual supplied with the battery to minimise the risk.
Avoid contact with the electrolyte, which is a highly corrosive
sulphuric acid that will cause burns in the event of contact with
the body.
The place of battery testing must be well ventilated.
The cautions, precautions and instructions described above may
not cover all possible conditions and situations that may occur.
The operator must understand that common sense and caution
are factors that cannot be built into the equipment, but he must
provide them himself.
PREPARING FOR OPERATION
Before starting work, check the documentation supplied with the
battery or contact the battery manufacturer to get information
about the following parameters that should be then entered into
the tester during the test procedure.
Type of battery to be tested: lead-acid (so-called wet), VRLA or AGM.
CCA (Cold Cranking Amperes) value - cold cranking amperes.
Cranking amperes standard: EN – European standard, SAE –
American standard, DIN – German standard, IEC – International
Electrotechnical Commission standard, CA (MCA) – cranking
amperes.
Check the polarity of battery terminals. A red cable usually con-
nects the starter to the positive (+) pole of the battery and a black
cable connects the car body to the negative (-) pole of the bat-
tery. If in doubt, refer to the documentation supplied with the car
or battery, or contact the battery or car manufacturer.
Make sure the battery terminals are clean, free of patina and
other contaminants. If necessary, clean them with a wire brush.
BATTERY TEST PROCEDURE
The test procedure can be carried out for both the battery in-
stalled in the car and the removed battery.
Caution! When testing a battery installed in the car, turn the igni-
tion o
ff
and make sure that all loads are disconnected. Close all
car doors and boot lid.
Connect the red tester clamp marked with “+” with positive bat-
tery terminal. Connect the black tester clamp marked with “-” with
negative battery terminal or element of the car body to which
the negative battery terminal is connected if testing the battery
installed in the car.
The tester display will be backlighted and after a while the BAT-
TERY TEST message and the value of battery voltage in volts,
e.g. 12.28 V appear. Press the ENTER button to proceed to the
next step of the procedure.
The BATTERY TYPE message will appear, use the arrows to se-
lect the battery type: REGULAR LIQUID (lead-acid, wet), AGM,
VRLA/GEL. Press ENTER button to proceed to the next step of
the procedure.
The RATING STANDARD message will appear, use the arrows
to select the cranking amps standard: EN, CA, SAE, DIN, IEC.
Press ENTER button to proceed to the next step of the procedure.
The RATING CAPACITY message will appear, use the arrows to
select the rated CCA value of the battery. Press ENTER button
to start the test.
The TESTING message will appear and the result will appear
after approx. 2 seconds.
If BATTERY CHARGED message appears, use the arrows to
select YES or NO and con
fi
rm the choice with the ENTER button
and proceed to the next step of the procedure. Caution! The test-
er will evaluate the battery status itself and decide whether to dis-
play this step or not. This message may not appear every time.
If the test results are correct, a message indicating the battery
status and its current and available CCA appears. By pressing
the arrow buttons you can additionally read STATE OF HEALTH
in percentage of battery consumption and STATE OF CHARGE
in percentage of rated battery capacity.
If TEST ERROR message appears, press the ENTER button,
then disconnect the clamps of the tester from the battery, recon-
nect them, and repeat the test procedure from the beginning.
Battery status messages:
GOOD PASS - the battery status is good and does not require
charging.
GOOD RECHARGE - the battery status is good, but needs to
be charged.
