FRONT WHEEL

• Front wheel axle bolt

TIP

Install the front wheel with the mark “a” on the 
front tire pointing in the direction of wheel rota-
tion.

5. Tighten:

• Front wheel axle
• Front wheel axle pinch bolt

NOTICE

ECA19760

Before tightening the wheel axle, push down 
hard on the handlebars several times and 
check if the front fork rebounds smoothly.

TIP

First, tighten the wheel axle, then the wheel axle 
pinch bolt.

a. Insert the front wheel axle from the right side, 

temporarily install the front wheel axle bolt “1” 
from the left side, and then tighten the front 
wheel axle to 91 Nm (9.1 m·kgf, 66 ft·lbf).

b. Temporarily install the pinch bolts “2” and “3”, 

and then tighten the pinch bolts to 21 Nm (2.1 
m·kgf, 15 ft·lbf) in the order of pinch bolt “3” 

→

 

pinch bolt “2” 

→

 pinch bolt “3”.

c. Temporarily install the pinch bolts “4” and “5”, 

and then tighten the pinch bolts to 21 Nm (2.1 
m·kgf, 15 ft·lbf) in the order of pinch bolt “5” 

→

 

pinch bolt “4” 

→

 pinch bolt “5”.

6. Install:

• Speed sensor

NOTICE

ECA22011

Make sure there are no foreign materials in 
the speed sensor rotor and speed sensor. 
Foreign materials cause damage to the 
speed sensor rotor and speed sensor.

TIP

• When installing the speed sensor, check the 

speed sensor lead for twists.

• To route the speed sensor lead, refer to “CA-

BLE ROUTING” on page 2-37.

7. Measure:

• Distance  “a”

(between the speed sensor rotor “1” and 
speed sensor “2”)
Out of specification 

→

 Check the wheel bear-

ing for looseness, and the speed sensor and 
sensor rotor installation conditions (warpage 
caused by overtorque, wrong installation di-
rection, rotor decentering, LOCTITE® on the 
mounting surface of the rotor, deformation 
caused by an impact during service and 
caught foreign materials). If there is any de-
fective part, repair or replace the defective 
part.

TIP

Measure the distance between the speed sen-
sor rotor and speed sensor in several places in 
one rotation of the front wheel. Do not turn the
