Checking the engine oil level
1.
Put the outboard motor in an upright
position (not tilted).
NOTICE:
If the
motor is not level, the oil level indi-
cated on the dipstick may not be accu-
rate.
2.
Start the engine. Warm it up and keep
the idle speed for 5–10 minutes.
3.
Stop the engine and leave it for 5–10
minutes.
4.
Remove the top cowling.
5.
Remove oil dipstick and wipe it clean.
6.
Insert the dipstick completely for
accurate measurement and remove it
again.
7.
Check the oil level using the dipstick to
make sure the level falls at the center
between the upper level mark
a
“H” and
lower level mark
b
“L.” Fill with oil if it is
below the lower level mark
b
“L,” or
extract to the center level if it is above the
upper level mark
a
“H.”
Checking the engine start switch and
engine shut-off switch
1.
Check that the engine starts when the
engine start switch is turned to “START.”
2.
Check that the engine turns off when the
engine start switch is turned to “OFF.”
3.
Check that the engine turns off when the
clip is pulled from the engine shut-off
switch.
Checking the fuel system
1.
Check that the fuel hoses are securely
connected and that the fuel tank is full
with fuel.
NOTICE:
This is a 4-stroke
engine. Never use premixed fuel or 2-
stroke outboard motor oil.
