HHDs use the Meter ID and Meter Type fields to accurately store meter reading information
to the correct account, if a duplicate or missing Meter ID exists in the route data, AutoRead
must discard the missing or duplicate records before loading the HHD. AutoRead will
always keep the first occurrence of a certain ID number, and set aside any duplicates that
follow. Similarly, if a record is missing a Meter ID or Meter Type, AutoRead will also set aside
the record, as it will not be able to identify that there is a meter located at the specified
address. AutoRead sets aside these duplicate or missing records in the
Route Exceptions
tab to notify you that there were problems importing all of the data. It is not necessary to
correct the Route Exceptions prior to loading the HHD, but it can be helpful to do so. The
Route Exceptions will NOT appear on the HHD until the duplicate or missing information is
corrected, and a corrected route file is imported into AutoRead.
Listed on the
Route Exceptions
tab are several columns of data. The Operation column
refers to the function that was being performed when the exception occurred (i.e. Import,
Load, Read). In some cases, a duplicate Meter ID is found when loading multiple routes to
a single HHD. If the same meter number exists in two separate routes, AutoRead will not
discard the duplicate unless the two routes are loaded to the same HHD.
The Reason column refers to the reason why a record was set aside. This is usually due to
Meter ID Missing, Meter Type Missing, or Duplicate Meter ID, but other reasons are possible.
Refer to the troubleshooting section or contact Technical Support for further information.
The Record column refers to the number of the record in the import file. This number is
simply based on the order that AutoRead encountered the record from top to bottom in the
Import file. A record number of 5 means that the record was the 5th record in the file.
The Description column displays other specific information, if any is available, about the
account(s) in question. Often the column will display Account Number, Meter Number,
Meter Type and Address. This information is provided so that you can locate the problem
account in the billing software and correct the indicated problem. If a meter is duplicated,
both affected accounts display in the Description column. It is possible to adjust the column
widths and scroll the screen from left to right to see more information if the screen area is
limited.
Route Exceptions Occurring after a Read Data has been Performed
When reading Precision Meters more than one reading can occur on a data line from the
meter. In cases where this is encountered the first reading is accepted and the remaining
reading(s) are placed in the
Route Exceptions
file.
It is possible to print the list of Route Exceptions for reference using the
button. It is
located at the top of the screen to the right of the
Function
menu.
Fix Route Exceptions
As is the case with all Route Exceptions, the duplicate and missing meter information must
be corrected in the billing software, and a new route file must be created. You can then
Clear the old route information from the AutoRead database, and Import the corrected route
