6.5 Finalize the Main Shaft Assembly
6.5.1
Apply Kluber Altemp Q NB 50, or equivalent, to the splines on the input end of the main
shaft.
6.5.2
Install the splined hub.
6.5.3
Press the O-ring into the groove between the splined hub and splined shaft using a
blunt smooth tipped tool.
6.5.4
Install the endcap with washers and HHCS. Be sure the washers engage the locking
holes in the end of the shaft.
6.5.5
Set assembly upright, so that it is sitting on its feet.
6.5.6
Install the dummy flywheel with SHCS and Loctite 271. Prevent the shaft from rotating
before next steps.
6.5.7
Torque the dummy flywheel per Table in back of manual.
6.5.8
Torque the end cap HHCS with Loctite 242 or equal on the input end of the shaft per
Table in back of manual.
6.5.9
Bend the washer tab against a bolt head flat for all the HHCS.
6.5.10
Allow shaft to rotate.
6.5.11
Bend the washer tab against a bolt head flat for all the HHCS.
6.6 Install Domed Covers, Head, Extension, and/or Auxiliary Equipment.
6.6.1
Verify surface is completely clean, smooth, and free of defects.
6.6.2
Drive the 2x dowel pins into the head mounting surface. The tapered end should be
pointing up.
6.6.3
Install the 8x M12 studs into the head mounting surface with Loctite 271 or equal by
applying locate to the stud and into the threaded hole.
6.6.4
Tighten each st ud to 37 lbf•ft [50 Nm] by use of double nuts.
6.6.5
If installing a domed cover, complete this set of steps. If not, skip this set of steps.
6.6.5.1
Place the gasket in place.
6.6.5.2
Install domed cover to the pump drive housing.
6.6.5.3
Install cam-lock washers and nuts.
6.6.5.4
Tighten to a specification of 62 lbf•ft [84 Nm]. When tightening, tighten the
4x middle bolts first in a crisscross pattern. Once these meet the torque
