Opening and closing engine hood
General
WARNING!
Uncovered, rotating parts!
Risk of injury due to rotating parts.
Only open the engine hood or engine room doors when the engine is
at a standstill.

Hot surface, hot fluids!
Risk of burns due to hot surfaces and fluids.
Prior to maintenance works, allow machine to cool down to a
temperature under 30 °C (86 °F) .
Do not touch hot machine parts.
Check filling levels only when machine is cooled down.

Prior to opening the engine hood:
1. Switch off diesel engine and remove ignition key.
2. Unfold stairs to maintenance point and lock safely at chassis.
Opening the engine hood
Open engine hood only from stand space [A]. Observe that you are
standing safely.
1. Open pressure lock at handle [B].
2. Lift off engine hood a bit.
3. After passing the tilting point, the engine hood opens by means of the
gas pressure spring.
Carry out maintenance works only with engine hood completely
opened. Engine hood must be supported securely when opened.
Check the holding force of the gas pressure spring twice per
year and exchange spring if necessary.
