3.4 Operation
This section describes operation of the Mast System using powered operation.
If an emergency stop is required at any time, press the Emergency Stop Switch on the Junction
Box. All mast and RCP motion will stop. If an emergency stop event occurs, after actuation and
before disengaging the emergency stop, the mast system shall be inspected in order to detect
the reason for the actuation.
3.4.1 Quick Reference
The following is a quick summary of operation of the Mast System. Detailed steps follow the
quick summary (Section 3.4.2).
In general, operate as follows:
1. Initiate the System (Section 3.4.2.1)
2. Extend the Mast (Section 3.4.2.2)
3. Operate the RCP and Lights (Section 3.4.2.3)
4. Operate the Auxiliary Devices (Section 3.4.2.4)
5. Retract the Mast (Section 3.4.2.5)
3.4.2 Detailed Instructions
The following are detailed instructions describing the operation of the Mast System.
3.4.2.1 Initiate the System
To prepare the system for powered operation:
1. Ensure the vehicle parking brake is engaged.
2. Ensure that there are no overhead obstructions or power lines near the operating space
of the Mast System.
3. If the Emergency Stop switch has been activated and the reason for the activation has
been corrected, twist and pull the Emergency Stop
Switch, on the Junction Box, to
enable the system.
